Catherine, Christine, and Mike, I'm so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of your mother. As a child, when I came over to play, your mom always greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile. If I was over there too much (which I probably was!), she never let on. I met Mrs. Johns again about 15 years ago. It was a different dynamic, of course, but still the same warm woman I remembered. I feel lucky to have known her.

I only met Vera late in her life. I particularly remember sharing a lovely chistmas at her son Mike and my sister Caroline's home just north of Toronto. My family of three stayed there overnight as did Vera, where a big gang of family gathered for main meals. What I remember best are the quiet moments late christmas eve and again christmas morning. Vera told stories of her life, and shared memories of the simple pleasures of long ago holiday gatherings, remarking on how much was still the same. As the conversations wound around, she kept to her knitting, and beaming out her beautiful smiles. Rest in peace Vera. With love and condolences to the Johns family, from Sibyl Frei and family
