Obituary for Jackie Lee Iahn

IAHN, Jackie Lee, 1956-2017

After a courageous battle with cancer, Jackie Lee Iahn Jr. of Kingston passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at St.Mary's of the Lake Hospital. He was born in Missouri to Jackie L.Iahn Sr. and Betty (Sibole) of Park Hills and moved to Canada in 2002 to marry his loving wife and best friend Diane (Welch). He will be deeply missed by his stepson Jeffrey (Susan) Brundige, stepdaughter Dana Brundige-Halladay and treasured grandchildren Darian and Lexi Halladay, Sarah and Logan Brundige and great grandson Lochlan Bates. He is survived by his parents, his brother Timothy of Virginia, sisters Diane Rust of Virginia and Becky (John ) Spurgin of Missouri. Jack will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends from all over the world and his fur baby, Walter.
A very large hole will be left in our lives without his generous affection and love, zest for life and sense of fun. Jack was a Missouri storm chaser, photographer, wood carver and lover of astronomy, hiking,Star trek, the outdoors and people. He was very energetic , clever and creative. Spending time on the back roads doing photography alongside the love of his life was also one of his greatest passions. His generosity and eagerness to help out family, friends and people he did not even know seemed never ending. Jack always tried to make people smile. For these reasons and many more he was a man who was loved by all. Special thanks to doctors and staff at KGH Cancer Centre (particularly Dr. Ghate) and family Doctor Elizabeth Grier. Jack's final weeks of life were lightened by the outstanding and comforting care of doctors and staff on the palliative floor of St.Mary's and we are sincerely grateful for their compassion and enthusiasm for Jack. Your storm has passed , and now you can rise above the clouds to the stars you were always gazing toward like it was home. RIP Jack and thanks for the wonderful memories. In keeping with Jack's wishes cremation has taken place. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
