Obituary for Joyce Florence Quantick (Bailey)

Joyce Florence Quantick (Bailey)
Quantick, Joyce Florence (nee Bailey)

April 8, 1930-Feb. 2, 2016

In her 86th year, after a long and difficult battle with lung disease, Joyce passed away at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital. She was loved through her dying time by her family and the wonderful nurses and doctors who cared for her.

Joyce will be missed terribly by her husband of 65 years, James Quantick. They were each other’s best friend.

Joyce also watches over her children, Glynis Quantick-Connors (Mike), and Robin Quantick (Laurie). She is predeceased by her son Christopher Quantick. She was a wonderful grandmother to Melissa (Alex), Nigel and Brandon Greenham. They have so many wonderful memories to keep with them.

Joyce is predeceased by her parents, Gladys and Harry Bailey, and sisters Phyllis and Marjorie.

Auntie Joyce will also love Carol Anne Russell from above. She loved Carol as if she were her daughter. Thank you Carol for the many hours you spent with Mom during her last days, and the wonderful company you provided for her.

Joyce will be in the heart of her dear friend, Jenny Fern. Thank you Jenny for all that you do, and all of the love you gave to Joyce over the years. She loved you enormously.

Joyce was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church in Portsmouth Village and has left an empty space in the back pew on the right by the aisle.

Thank you to the wonderful staff at St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital. Mom appreciated everything that you did for her, and particularly loved your vast supply of ice cream! Thank you Shelley Shadforth-Demerah for letting me squeeze your hand as Mom passed over to a peaceful place where she will never be short of breath again.

Thank you to the wonderful people who work at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. You were so patient with the many occasions that I needed to be with Mom.

A celebration of her life and faith in God will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. John’s Anglican Church Portsmouth, 41 Church Street, Kingston, Ontario K7M 1H2.

As per Joyce’s wishes, cremation has already taken place.

Donations to St. John’s Anglican Church Portsmouth would be greatly appreciated.
