THOMPSON, George

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Thompson on January 28, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to Leila and William Thompson on September 11, 1932 in Ballymena, Northern Ireland and predeceased by siblings Billy, Harry, Jean, Leila and Cecil. George is survived by Doreen (Newton) his loving wife and best friend of 59 years. Predeceased by their infant daughter Dorothy and son Stephen (2006). He will be forever missed by his adoring daughters Sandra (Stew White) Leila (Ted Yateman) Carolyn (Mark Pieczonka) and daughter in law Cindy Thompson (Rogers). George has been a doting Poppy to Stewie, Kristin (Ian Miller), Jenny, Stephanie, Lauren, Sara, Michael, Emma, and great-grandson Sebastian. In keeping with George's wishes, cremation and a private family service was held at St. Lukes Church. George lived his life with great passion for his family. We will cherish the memories, and his one of a kind sense of humour will be with us forever. Fair winds and Following seas Pops.
