NEWTON, THOMAS WILLIAM
( DEC 18, 1915-OCTOBER 8,2008)

Peacefully , with his beloved family at his side, at Kingston General Hospital, of complications following a stroke.A life well-lived, his generous heart, quick wit and sense of humour were evident to the end. Predeceased by his wife Isabel (2005). Loving father of Tom (Holly) of Calgary, Merrilees of Kingston and Charlotte ( Scott Williams) of Ottawa. Very proud grandpa of Dan and Kim ( Angus Craig) Newton and Isabel, Duncan and Malcom Williams. Adoring great-grandpa of Harry and Merrilees Craig. Also survived by his sister Laura Stark of Kelowna, BC and several nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by his feline and canine friends Heidi and Geordie who gave him so much comfort. Very special thanks to Marian Hastings for so lovingly caring for Tom over the past several months. The family also wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided by the nurses, doctors and other staff at Kingston General Hospital. the respect and compassion of Dr. Christopher Smith and the humanity and gentleness of the medical student Clifford Lin were especially appreciated. At Tom's request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. A gathering of friends will take place at a later date. If desired , donations in Tom's memory my be made to the Kingston Humane Society or the Kingston General Hospital Foundation , or to a charity of your choice.
