HAYES, William (Bill) John Humphry
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) John Humphry Hayes on March 16, 2023 at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Bill was born in North Bay, Ontario on July 15, 1946, to Joan (Foster) and Edward Hayes into a military family. As an Airforce brat, Bill lived on various Canadian Airforce Bases throughout Canada until settling in Montreal with his mother and sister. Bill completed his education in Montreal, Quebec and eventually settled into a career as a heavy equipment mechanic with Sousa Ready Mix in Kingston, Ontario.
Bill was an avid gardener, an amazing fixer upper, a Detroit Red Wings, New England Patriots, and Toronto Blue Jays fan who could often be found, in the warmer months, enjoying his backyard. He was an animal lover and, his dogs, Sadie and Boots were counted as his children in his later years.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Heather (Cameron), daughters Debi (Keith McMillan) and Wendy (Grant Connell), sister Patricia (John Caporuscio). Devoted Papa to Jasmine Hayes (Matt Alkenbrack), Colin Hayes-Freeman, and Spencer Hayes-Freeman (Rebecca St. amour). Loving Great-Papa to Mason and Faith Alkenbrack. He will be fondly remembered by many extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Kingston Health Sciences Centre Kidd 3 for their kind and compassionate care.
At Bill’s request, there will be no memorial service; cremation has already taken place. A tribute to a life well lived will be held on his birthday, July 15, 2023 at Legion 631, Collins Bay, Ontario.
