Obituary for Dixie-Leigh (Dee) White
WHITE, Dixie-Leigh (Dee)
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dixie-Leigh White (Dee) in her 67th year on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Kingston, Ontario.
Dee was born in Ottawa on January 10, 1957, to parents Audry Berniece (Dixie) White (nee Kennedy) and Ray Lewis White and into a military family. Being an Air Force Brat, shortly after birth Dee voyaged to France where she resided with her parents in Marville / Longuyon. Upon returning to Canada in 1959, Dee also resided with family in Greenwood Nova Scotia, Summerside, Prince Edward Island and Trenton, Ontario. Dee completed much of her education in Nova Scotia attending grade school at AVM Morfee, Dwight Ross and graduating from West Kings District High School.
Dee also attended Kentville College, preparing her for a career in administration and finance, working in her field in various cities and provinces across Canada, including Calgary, Vancouver, Victoria and finally in Kingston Ontario. Dee worked for Mueller Canada, Osborne Propellers, the Vancouver District School Board, the British Columbia Crown Attorney’s Office, Forest Renewal British Columbia, Kingston & Frontenac Housing Corporation and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Dee was an avid reader, a Vancouver Canucks fan, an animal lover, having several cats throughout her life, and was sharp witted to the end.
Dee is survived by her long-time partner Brad Hunt, his son Matthew, brother Daniel White, sister-in-law Tina, nephew Joshua (Jess), nieces Kelsey and Kristen (Joe) and several cousins in the White and Kennedy clans.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Kingston Health Sciences Centre Davies 4 and Connell 9 for their kind and compassionate care.
At Dee’s request, there will be no memorial service; cremation has already taken place.
At Dee’s request, memorial donations may be made to the Kingston Humane Society 1 Binnington Court, Kingston, Ontario K7M 8M9.
