Obituary for Jean Kay (Whitelaw)

KAY, Jean (nee Whitelaw)
December 7, 1951 – September 8, 2022

On the morning of September 8, 2022, at Kingston General Hospital, with her loving husband of 53+ years by her side, Jean passed away peacefully in her sleep. Jean will be sadly missed by her husband Raymond and their 7 children; Mary Jane Andrews (Rick) Robert Kay, Debbie Thomson (Jay) Raymond Jr., Gene Kay (Chelsea), April Kay, Stephen Kay (Sarah), and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings May Kerrisk (Declan) and Esther Legere (Rick).

Jean is predeceased by her parents, Robert and Hannah Whitelaw (Girdwood) and siblings; Robert Girdwood (Margaret), Bertha Charteris (Willie), George Whitelaw (Sadie), Irene Neil, and Moira Benson (Greg).

Jean was an avid bingo player and enjoyed a good game of cards. You might have tried your luck if you didn’t mind losing. Jean was born in Scotland and moved to Canada in 1967. Whether you knew her as the fiery Scottish lady, or “Mom PI”, you were sure to stay in line.

The family would love to extend their thanks to all KGH staff for their kindness and care. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to UHKF- Kingston General Hospital, Suite#4-55 Rideau Street, Kingston, Ontario K7K 2Z8 would be appreciated by the family.
