Obituary for John Reid Stanley

STANLEY, John Reid

After an honourable and courageous battle with cancer, John passed away at home on July 22nd, 2020 with his spouse, best friend and soulmate of 20 years Cheryl Murphy by his side along with his mother in-law. Cherished only son of Bev and Jack Stanley and son in-law to Janice Murphy and the late Frank Murphy. Forever remembered and greatly missed by his stepchildren Madison and Owen (Timmins). Beloved father to his daughters Kryn and Chelsea (Stanley). Survived by his sister Lori (Stanley). Will be missed by brother in-law Sean Murphy (Brooke Delong) and sister in-law Lisa Murphy (Rick Waller). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Devoted Great-Uncle to Izzy, Petra and Paisley Blackmore. John battled cancer like he drove his Vintage Dirt Modified race car: hard, courageous and always strong. The “Superman” will be incredibly missed and forever remembered by his Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour family and friends both on and off the track. John was happiest driving his vintage race car around on many different Canadian and American tracks. The deepest heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nazik Hammad, Dr. Maria Kalyvas, Nurse Paula who made it possible for John to spend one last summer (of 2019) racing. Also, a very generous thank you to KHSC Cancer Centre’s dedicated nurses, doctors and staff. A very generous thank you to all home nurses from CBI; you always made John’s days brighter and easier. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. All donations are asked to be made to the UHKF - Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, 55 Rideau Street #4 , Kingston, Ontario K7K 2Z8 in John’s honour.
