Obituary for Carla Maria Groenewegen
GROENEWEGEN, Carla Maria
April 19, 1953 – January 13, 2020
Carla passed away peacefully at home in her 67th year. She is the beloved sister of Jean (Jim) Bedore, Martin (Carol) Groenewegen, Cornelia (Gerry) Splinter, Mary Groenewegen, Ann (Gary) Lupton, Casey (Rosie) Groenewegen, Francis (Kathie) Groenewegen, Bernadette (Duane) Redden and Jack Groenewegen (Trevor Teglas). Predeceased by her beloved parents Case and Gertrude Groenewegen and her sister Gertrude (Gary) Bullock. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Carla was blessed with a love of the outdoors and nature, and had a very talented green thumb. She worked for many years on the family farm in the Harrowsmith area and then at Neil’s Flowers and Greenhouses in Kingston. In her later years, she took much pride in caring for her parents at their retirement home near the family homestead. In keeping with Carla’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. A private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations to the Canadian Red Cross National Office 400 Cooper Street, Suite 8000 Ottawa, Ontario K2P 2N1 would be appreciated by the family.
