Obituary for Raymond Earl Cain

CAIN Raymond Earl

December 12, 2019
We celebrate the life of Raymond Earl Cain. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, cousin and uncle.
Raymond was born August 17th, 1937 in Devlin, Ontario to Earl and Vera Cain. He grew up on the Cain family farm in Box Alder. He fondly remembered riding the big work horses with his beloved sister Arleen.
In the summer of 1957, he met the love of his life, Anna Bodnar and married her on November 12, 1957, making memories for 62 years together.
They soon started a family with Donald Earl, and quickly added Brian Lynn, Patricia Anne, twins Gerry Allen and Gary Albert, Dennis, Lori Rae and Tannis Marie.
Ray became an electrician early in his career and celebrated 25 years working for Ontario Hydro at various job sites. However, Mom and Dad were undecided to the quality of moving vans and over the course of several years tested many, 27 times or so.
He enjoyed having the family farm in Devlin, raising his children with a strong work ethic and a value for family. He loved to fish with his beloved Anna; she always out-fishing him. He loved tinkering in his garage, gardening where he waged war with the squirrels, and family camping trips. Ray was active in the community and was a member of various clubs. He used to coach the boys in hockey and would play for hours on the pond. Family baseball games in the backyard would usually end up with dad hitting the ball into a window. Monthly attitude adjustments had to be made by dad to the family Shetland pony where he would ride it bareback, feet dragging on the ground around the field. The pony would finally be rideable again: Dad 1 Ringo 0.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Anna, his sons Don and Carol, Gerry and Rachelle, Gary and Laurie, and daughters Lori and Victor and Tannis, 11 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and one more on the way. His sister Arleen Roy and daughter Amber and John, brothers in law Ed Bodnar, Norman Lecia and Marion, sisters in law Evelen and Frank Myers, Eleanor and Steve Johanson, Cheryl Bodnar and Edith Bodnar.
He was predeceased by his parents Earl and Vera, in laws Joseph and Dora Bodnar, beloved sons Brian Lynn and Dennis and daughter Patricia Ann Caruk. Brothers in law Roger Roy, Mike Bodnar, John Bodnar, Bill Bodnar, Paul Bodnar, and Dwaine Dawkins and sisters in law Olga Dawkins and Helen Bodnar.
In the last years Ray had health challenges and the family would appreciate in lieu of flowers donations to the Heart and Stroke or Kidney Foundation.

I carry your heart with me,
I carry it in my heart.
I am never without it,
Anywhere I go you go, my dear
And whatever is done by only me
Is your doing, my darling.
I carry your heart,
I carry it in my heart.
E.E. Cummings
