Obituary for Mark Beverley Hepburn

HEPBURN, Mark Beverley
October 4, 1962 –November 5, 2019

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Beverley Hepburn, loving father of Kyle and Michael Hepburn, and much loved brother of Lydia (Dennis) Murphy, Marion (Dale) Helmer, Matthew, John, Donna Wood and Chris; predeceased by his oldest sister Deborah (Gary) Harbison and his parents Robert and Mary (Flarow) Hepburn. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews – the closest of whom was Barbara (Murphy) and her husband Preston Paul. Mark was born in Kingston, October 4, 1962, along with his twin sister Marion, the youngest children of their mother Mary who loved and cared for them until her passing in 1970. For many years afterwards, Mark and his sister lived as part of the Murphy family until their mid teens after which they lived and worked in Alberta before returning to Kingston. Mark enjoyed working for the Pepsi Company for many years until he developed MS and eventually, but reluctantly retired to spend the rest of his time caring for his sons till they were grown and on their own. He was determined to live on his own and was able to do so, with the help of his oldest son and his sisters and their husbands, even after he was diagnosed with cancer and survived that illness. He was a clever and creative man, who earned the nickname “Sparky” while working for Pepsi...he could fix just about anything and said “duct tape” was his best tool. Those that knew Mark will smile as they remember this part of Mark’s creativity. Eventually he realised that he required more medical care and after spending 7 months at Kingston General Hospital, Mark went on to live at Trillium Court from January 2018 until he passed away under the compassionate care of the doctors and nurses in I.C.U. at Kingston General Hospital. The family will be forever grateful for the care and dignity these remarkable people extended to Mark, allowing him to make that final decision that it was time to “fall asleep in death” and await the time when he would be resurrected back to this earth, to live forever in perfect health and happiness – a promise Christ Jesus made and a promise Mark fully believed in and spoke of often to those around him. In keeping with Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Mark was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a memorial talk will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 849 Development Drive on November 16th, 2019 at 2:30PM – a talk outlining Mark’s life and how his deep faith in God’s promises were woven throughout his life, will be given by his close friend Cam Matheson at that time. Family, friends and acquaintances are warmly welcomed to attend and pay their last respects.
