Obituary for David S. McKay

MCKAY, David S.

April 17-1947 – September 27, 2019

On September 27th, , 2019, David passed peacefully from this earth to his heavenly home, surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Beloved and cherished husband of 45 years to Diane (Moreau-Price).
Devoted father of Sean Price, Nanaimo BC, Kelly Ann McKay, and Timothy Severin, Kingston, and Danielle McKeil (Joseph), Napanee.
Loving Grandfather of Samantha Lavoie (Joshua), Jocelyn McKay (Troy Pettigrew), and Cody McKay (Koryssa) all of Kingston.
Adoring Great- Grandfather of Makayla-Faith and Nathan-Andrew Lavoie.
Always remembered by best friends Nicole and Gordon Jones.
Predeceased by parents Harry and Dorothy McKay, Nova Scotia. Survived by sister, Gloria Jean Harroun ( Ralph) and brother Clarence McKay( Gail), Nova Scotia.
David’s greatest strength was his love of people, and his kind and gentle spirit.
He was so mindful and accepting of others, treating everyone with dignity and care. He was gregarious and giving. Always ready and with a smile, to help.
He leaves many friends and family in Springhill, Nova Scotia, where he was born and raised.
He moved to Pembroke and Petawawa area in Ontario, where he began and managed his successful contracting business for many years, and where he married Diane, and began his wonderful family.
He transferred to Kingston 23 years ago, and became fast friends with the many people he came to know and cherish here.
David enjoyed friendly competition and was an avid dart and pool player. Even when he won, he has a gracious gift for making others feel like winners. He volunteered for many years at the Frontenac Institution, befriending and escorting inmates to church and social events. He made such a positive and loving impact on many, that we know will go on.
He was hard working and patient, with an amazing sense of humour.
He loved to laugh. He believed in the goodness of God, the love of family, the importance of friends, commitment to his job, and always prepared to help anyone he could.
He will be greatly and so deeply missed by his loving family and anyone whoever had the joy of knowing him.
He will also be remembered by his church family at Kingston Gospel Temple. He will be sadly missed by his co- workers at OUTFRONT MEDIA in Toronto, and also by Tim, who he appreciated so much.
There will be a Celebration of Life for David at Kingston Gospel Temple Church 2295 Princess Street on Friday October 11th, 2019 at 11am.
His Family will be pleased to receive friends at this time, with a reception to follow. If you wish, you may donate in David’s memory by cheque to Kingston Gospel Temple 2295 Princess Street Kingston, Ontario K7M 3G1 or please go to kgtchurch.org
