June 5, 1931 - April 1, 2019
It is with great sorrow we announce the death of Charles EARL Taft. Born in Bowmanville, Ontario to Charles Taft and Jessie (Gibson) Taft. Earl was raised in Oshawa. After the death of his Father he moved to Campbellford with his Mother and supported them with work in a shoe factory, a carpet factory and as a parts manager in a local garage. After the death of his Mother, he joined the RCAF working on furthering his education. As a mature student he entered Sir George Williams University getting his Bachelor of Arts Degree.On completing his studies at Queen's Theological College in Kingston, he served 7 United Church Charges before retiring in 1996. Earl married Barbara Smith in 1961. They have 2 children , Dan and Lyn (Reid) and 2 grandsons, Samuel and Isaac. Predceased by his sisters Helen, Muriel and Marguerite. Survived by sister Fran Doner. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Edith Rankin Memorial United Church on Tuesday, April 9,2019. Visitation between 10:00-11:00, following the service at 11:00 there is a reception. In lieu of flowers donations to Camp Quin Mo Lac, 336 Franks Road, Tweed, Ontario K0K 3J0 or Edith Rankin Memorial United Church 4080 Bath Road Kingston, Ontario K7M 4Y7 would be appreciated by the family.
