McCREARY , Lionel Grayston Webster – (1957-2019)
I have hung up my sign – “Gone Fishing” – see you all on the other side. I left this world peacefully and with dignity with the three most important people in my life by my side, my wife Kelly, my best friend Tim and my sister-in-law Judy.I need to express thanks firstly to my amazing wife who used every ounce of energy she had to care for me and for her tremendous fight advocating for dignified care for me - I have loved you from the first day I saw you and don’t worry I will be waiting for you on the other side. To my grandparents Helen Rose McCreary and Grayston Webster McCreary – I thank you for your unconditional love and support throughout my life and I will see you soon. Gramps, we are finally going fishing together again. Thanks to the following who put up with me (because I know I was a pain in the ass at times) and for transitioning me through this - Dr. Nick Cristoveanu, Dr. Paul Heffernan, Dr. David Taylor and all the Internal Medicine Team, Dr. Allison Ashworh, Dr. Andrew Robinson,, Corey from Frontenac Medical, all the staff at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario, Kidd 9 and Connell 9 nursing staff (especially Paul for going the extra mile), Dr. Bona for giving me sight in my last few months, Dalitso Mzinganjira and Annie Belanger– Hospice Kingston, PSW Marian, who made my last few months bearable with exceptional care. To my true guardian angels here on earth, I was truly overwhelmed by your love and support throughout my life – Best friend Tim Garrison (greatest friend a man could have), sister-in-law Judy Shier (who cares about everyone and is always there), mother-in-law Bernice Dunn, Laurel Plaza (who could always make me laugh) and Guzman Plaza; Linda (Ma) Elliott and the gang; Patricia and Al Lecompte and little Ben and Luka, Don and Anne Cowan, Pastor Tim Milley, and all our family members and friends who supported both myself and Kelly through this journey – thank you. The devotion you showed made it all bearable and it will never be forgotten. I know you will continue to watch over Kelly because that is how amazing you guys are.Cremation has taken place and I have asked for a private family burial – never much liked all that fancy stuff. Please remember - I am no longer suffering so stay happy and enjoy life – it is short. I love you all, stay kind and humble.A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.In memory of Lionel donations can be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation – for COPD research or Hospice Kingston.
