Obituary for Ruby Jeanette Cairns

CAIRNS, Ruby

Ruby Cairns, aged 72, died on February 7th 2019, surrounded by her loving family and friends. After a long battle with lung disease she is at peace.
Ruby was born in Prince Edward Island, she was one of 9 children in her family. She lived on a beautiful farm with her parents and siblings, she enjoyed eating seafood and playing on the beach. She eventually moved to Kingston with a growing family of her own. There she pursued full time nursing school while taking care of three daughters at home. Ruby was dedicated and resilient. She successfully completed nursing school, even finishing her final exams with a broken wrist following a roller skating incident with her daughters. Ruby had a wonderful career as a nurse, she was beloved by her colleagues and patients. Ruby was a loving mother, an attentive nurse, a dedicated wife, and a caring Nan. She leaves behind her four siblings, and 5 pre-deceased. Husband Ben Eriksen, daughters Leanne Burggraf, Susan Goldstein, and Janice Pearcey. Along with her five grandchildren, Josh, Hailey, Ryan, Maddie and Jessica. Ruby Cairns will remain the shining ruby in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.
The service will be held at Wartmans Funeral Home, 980 Collins Bay Rd, Kingston, Ontario on Monday February 11th visitation from 10-11 am. Funeral immediately to follow. Any donations can be made to the Lung Association - Eastern Ontario 2647 Alta Vista Drive, Suite 420, Ottawa, Ontario K1V 7T5.
