Obituary for Michael F. Shearer

SHEARER, Michael F.

On Dec. 11, 2018, after a long battle with cancer Michael F. Shearer of Seeley's Bay passed away at KGH. Michael was the husband and best friend to Jean (Dickson) for 41 years. Michael is survived by sisters Susan Holden (Paul) of Stirling Ont. and Pat of Vernon BC and brothers Lanny (Lois) of Sherwood Park Alta, Steve (Jackie) of Chase BC and Doug (Wendy) of Consecon Ont. Michael is predeceased by his parents Bob and Audrey, step-father Len and is survived by step-mother Barbara of Consecon Ont.Michael was born in Toronto on May 18, 1946 and moved to the Kingston area in 1974. During his lifetime he owned and operated four successful businesses, in manufacturing, service and retail. Michael truly enjoyed the challenges and triumphs of running a business. From the age of 21 until he sold his final business in 2001 at 55 he was passionate about each one and loved going to work every day.
Michael enjoyed traveling in Canada and the United States and always liked to take the road less traveled, stopping at antique stores and flea markets to find unique items for friends. He enjoyed fishing, spending time and playing cards with his friends in the "rummoli gang". He was also an avid reader of history. Due to declining health over the years Michael was no longer able to golf, snowmobile or hunt, all things he had once enjoyed.At Michael's request cremation has taken place. Friends are asked to drop in to the Seeley's Bay Legion, 116 bay Street, Seeley's Bay, Ontario on Sun. Dec. 16th from 1 - 4 p.m. to honour Michael's memory.
