SHEARER, Michael F.

On Dec. 11, 2018, after a long battle with cancer Michael F. Shearer of Seeley's Bay passed away at KGH. Michael was the husband and best friend to Jean (Dickson) for 41 years. Michael is survived by sisters Susan Holden (Paul) of Stirling Ont. and Pat of Vernon BC and brothers Lanny (Lois) of Sherwood Park Alta, Steve (Jackie) of Chase BC and Doug (Wendy) of Consecon Ont. During his lifetime he owned and operated four successful businesses, in manufacturing, service and retail. Michael truly enjoyed the challenges and triumphs of running a business. From the age of 21 until he sold his final business in 2001 at 55 he was passionate about each one and loved going to work every day.
Michael enjoyed traveling in Canada and the United States and always liked to take the road less traveled, stopping at antique stores and flea markets to find unique items for friends. He enjoyed fishing, spending time and playing cards with his friends in the "rummoli gang". He was also an avid reader of history. Due to declining health over the years Michael was no longer able to golf, snowmobile or hunt, all things he had once enjoyed. At Michael's request cremation has taken place. Jean .. I have no words to soothe the empty place inside. I am so sorry that Mike is gone. He did love the challenges of a business and always the visits with customers. I have the best memories of our years working together, the Christmas celebrations and the Halloween shenanigans. You were there for me not so long ago .. I am here for you too. One day, sometimes one minute at a time.
