Obituary for John David Walker

WALKER, John David , passed away at home on Tuesday December 29, in his 81st year, dear husband and companion of Felicity. John will be missed by his family, sons, Brad (Christine) and Michael (Catherine), grandchildren Kaitlyn, Laura, Natasha and Drake. He is survived by his sister Joan Salton in Calgary, his brother Paul(Marie) and his brother-in-law Merle Duffy and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents and his sisters Gwendolyn, Barbara and Katherine. John , a Naval Veteran worked in Physical Plant at Queen's University as an Electrician and an Elevator Mechanic. In his spare time he took on the position of Circulation Manager of the Globe and Mail for about three years. During the 70's and 80's he started his own electrical contracting business and enjoyed the work on his farm near Elginburg. In addition to farming and electrical work , John began building houses and successfully completed several homes including his own. John also introduced Country Style Coffee to Kingston owning two franchises for over ten years. He was President of the Navy Veterans Association for several years, a hockey convenor at the Church Athletic League and assisted the coach of his sons' teams at the novice and atom levels.

Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. We will remember John at a Celebration to be held in January,2016. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario 720 Progress Avenue Kingston, Ontario K7M 4W9 or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
