GRIFFIN, Mary Lillian (nee Stent) - passed away peacefully in her 92nd year at Carveth Care Centre on Sunday April 17, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband George H Griffin in May 1987 and her beloved parents Cyril and Lilian (nee Stent) of Portsmouth, England. Mary was born in 1924. She married a Canadian Solider Oct 2, 1943, and came to Canada with her three-month old son George Michael as a war bride in May 1946. Mary worked as a librarian for 32 years in Gananoque. Mary loved books, reading and knitting. Following her retirement, she was a volunteer at eh library at Linklater Public School. Mary is survived by her loving son George M Griffin and daughter-in-law Eula. Loving 'Gram' to Shannon (Kristina), Charlotte (Mark), and Patricia (Pat). 'Great Gram' to Sydnee, Joshua, Jordan, Kristal, Maddison and Jaxson. The family greatly appreciates the excellent care and compassion given to Mary by the nurses and personal support staff of Carveth Care Centre. In keeping with Mary's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place at Olivett Cemetery. A private graveside service will be held sometime this summer. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the library at Linklater Public School, or to a charity of your choice.
