Obituary for Frank Princ

Frank Princ
Frank Princ

June 30, 1936 – Dec 22, 2015 (79 yrs.)

His heartbroken family is profoundly saddened to announce that the man who imparted joy and love to all with his big smile, warm hug, and kind heart, has passed peacefully, embraced in the love of many devoted family members. He has joined his precious grandson Jan and many other relations and friends in eternal rest. Left to mourn is his devoted soul-mate and beloved wife Jacqui (54 yrs.), his daughters Gaye (Joe), and Nivea (Paul), his most cherished grandchildren, Dustin and Leah, of whom he was fiercely protective and proud, and his beloved mother-in-law Bernetta Mundell. He was “special” uncle to Rudy (Pam) Sankovic, Vilma (Johnny) Gianfelice, Andrew (Liz) Deir, their families, and his other family in Slovenija. Also mourning are his sisters Nevenka (Miro), Marija (Branko), and sister-in-law Ada (Anton). He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Ivanka (Ivan), Anica (Ivan), brothers Ivan (Valerija), Anton and two infant brothers.

Born to Rozalija and Ivan, he lived his formative years in war-torn Europe and his teens in Communist Yugoslavia until 1954 when he escaped to Italy. In 1957 (aged 19) he emigrated from Italy to Canada. He became a gold miner in Red Lake, Ont. where he met and married Jacqui (1961). They moved to Joyceville with their daughters in 1965. As one of the first English as a second language students at St. Lawrence College he graduated in 1970. He managed Carl Tingrin’s Esso station until a severe accident disabled him – but not for long. This man of strong faith, cheerful countenance, positive outlook, and perseverance overcame his obstacles. A self-learned mechanic, he became a sharpshooter. His expertise will be greatly missed.

Frank lived, laughed, and loved life to the fullest. He cherished his friends and family world-wide and maintained close contact. He will be grievously missed. He lived by his mottoes: Don’t worry be happy, I’m a lover not a fighter, and Don’t fear, Frank is here!

A memorial mass will be held at St. John’s Church, Gananoque on Saturday February 6 at 10:30 A.M. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Gananoque Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation 5-720 Progress Ave Kingston Ont.K7M 4W9 or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
